Hi everyone. I have a new post ready to go today. It’s one of those where if you subscribe you get to read the whole thing, and if you’re just here to look around, you get a taste. Look for it soon, and subscribe if you like what you read. Thanks everyone for supporting this blog in this hour of chaos.
HOWEVER, the band I’m in (we are called The Lawrence Arms) just announced our new album. It’s called Skeleton Coast and it’s out on Epitaph Records on July 17. We also dropped the first single and video today. The song is called PTA and you can find the preorder portals to our record, as well as the song and video here.
Anyway, some of y’all have asked about the lyrics, so here they are. Hope you enjoy the song. And be sure to subscribe to this here blog so you don’t miss my showdown on “the most famous person to ever live” which is coming up in just a bit later today. It promises to be an amazing ride.
Okay, once again, here’s the new song. Play it loud, y’all.
PTA
(from the album Skeleton Coast by The Lawrence Arms out on Epitaph Records July 17, 2020)
Don’t worry baby, it’s nigh.
The end of our time, the brush on your thigh.
The feeling of toiling and loving only to watch it all die
I’m a long time in coming along for one hell of a ride
We took planes. We took trains. We took automobiles
And it was still just me looking at you when we stopped spinning the wheels
Dusty and lonesome and craving a glance
That starts in your heart then shoots into your pants.
Oh.
So, what did we do about it?
The same thing that everyone does
Cancel the contract you had with your soul and cut out the love
Cuz if you’re fighting yourself, then no one is fighting for you
And baby that’s how I like it. I wanna be down there with you.
We took planes. We took trains. We took automobiles
And it was still just me looking at you when we stopped spinning the wheels
Dusty and lonesome and craving a glance
Remember? we used to hold hands.
Now I just go out alone when I need to dance.
That very last line kills me in the best way every damn time.
Love the new track! Ordered 2 different variants of the record because I'm a sucker who cannot be trusted with my money. I'll probably stop at the two I grabbed, but maybe a CD for the car...
