I can understand the ripping on whiskey cokes. It is a totally basic highball, but it has been my go-to since college, and it's still a favorite, because if it was good enough for Lemmy, it's good enough for me. (Try it with a dash of bitters, if you haven't already.)
Great article & "advice" re: drinking tap beer. A lot of times i order it out of pure laziness and deference to the server, but next time I will def reconsider.
The Rum catch-all conclusion addresses, in part, my all-time favorite drink for the past 3-4 years, which I highly recommend:
Rum (I like Mount Gay, but the possibilities are endless. I wouldn't use spiced rum tho, yes to vanilla ) + Coconut water. i like 2-3 cubes of ice.
It's simple, refreshing and coconut water good for hangovers too, so it's a double bonus.
Worth the read for the hangover cures alone. I wish I wasn’t post 40 just learning some of those. I have also come to the realization that I hate sweet margaritas and I will never have a well G&T in my life ever again I want the good botanical shit.
Career bartender here...pretty spot on. I almost got into a fight with 3 douche bros (as a customer) because they ordered 3 bloodies @1am and I told them how fucking basic they were. Bartender was a friend, told them I was right, told them to leave. If its a nice bar and I trust them I'll drink an old fashioned otherwise its a beer and a tequila or whiskey neat on the side.
Canadian Club or Seagrams 7 and soda water is indeed the most unfuckwithable drink option there is. Classic, tastes right everytime. No fuss. Nothing fancy, but does the job. Can get fancier with Tullamore Dew or something on the whiskey side, but CC or Seagrams 7 are always solid choices. Quarantine has seen its fair share of those bottles emptied around my house.
Thank you for writing. Love it always.
vodka redbull made me pass out in the bathroom of the house of blues like, 10 years ago. i was 25. i was an idiot.
i mean, still an idiot in some ways, only now i drink gin n tonic. also love a margarita of pretty much any variety.

While whiskey and cokes isn't my thing, more a whiskey and soda guy, can't fuck with Lemmy
