It was such a perfect micro- (maybe macro-)cosm of DJT. Clearly no plan at all, the gatekeepers (literally on Wednesday) had either no plan to stop them or didn’t really care about stopping it, and once they were in had no goal other than making sure everyone else noticed they were there. Presented with an opportunity to do something tremendous(ly bad) they for the most part will be remembered in meme form.
I laughed extra hard because my mom’s name is Merle and I remember pointing out to her as a kid that there was a Cousin Merle on The Simpsons and she was so annoyed that she shared a first name with that character.
